How The Award Came About....
In 2019 some of the IFCN conference staffers, along with Arlene Van Doorn's daughter Elisha Van Doorn, decided to establish the IFCN Award to celebrate Arlene's passion and expertise at her 5th year Anniversary of the conference. This award was created to recognize the work foot care practitioners do every day in their practice, and more! We are looking for foot care nurses, or other practitioners who have gone above and beyond in their service and practice in foot care.

No one embodied this award more than Arlene Van Doorn. Not only was she the spark that created the IFCN conference (International Foot Conference for Nurses), she is the visionary and host. It was due to Arlene's dedication and commitment to foot care that the spark for the IFCN conference came into being, as well as her efforts brought the conference to continue after Covid-19 celebrating its 6th anniversary. And in 2023 Arlene has evolved her foot care vision to introduce the International Foot Care Network - including clinic services, foot care training, an annual conference, various workshops to expand foot care practitioners knowledge, skills and expertise.

It is the committees goal to to present this award annually at the IFCN Conference.
