Onsite Foot Care Nurse Clinical Course

The second step of the course is a 43 hour / 6 day mentorship & clinical hands-on course for Canadian nurses who have successfully completed the (Step 1) Online Nurse Theory course and are ready to practice their Foot Care Nurse (FCN) skills onsite with the guidance and supervision of a FCN Educator. The course uses the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses' National Competencies for Advanced Nursing Foot Care in Canada (2017) as Clinical Performance Standards and teaches a comprehensive, advanced and diabetic nursing foot care curriculum, which follows current best practice guidelines and evidence-based practice.

The curriculum for the FCN Clinical course was developed by Foot Canada Training and is administered by Foot Care Nurse Educators, in colleges and universities who have a license to access and use Foot Canada Training's curriculum, Education providers teach and administer FCN Clinical independently from Foot Canada Training. Each of these education providers have access to the same standardized peer-reviewed education guidelines, teaching materials and suggested FCN Clinical Course Outline. On the Foot Canada Training website you will find a list of Education Providers who are licensed to their clinical courses, refreshers, and workshops. Student Testimonials:

“Prior to receiving advanced foot care training I was a visiting nurse. I discovered a need for in home advanced      foot care during my 10+ years in the community. This inspired me to seek out foot care training. My biggest    concern in becoming a Foot care nurse was getting the proper training and education to be able to be competent   in this field. Arlene's hands on training was key for me in gaining the skills and competence I needed.

Knowing my focus was visiting nursing, Arlene ensured I had the experience of doing in home foot care. I was able  to see how foot care would work for me outside of the clinic setting. Arlene also encouraged me to join the CAFCN to help continue my education and keep my knowledge current. Since I received my training Arlene has continued to support me in navigating this new career path. She's just a quick text away! Arlene is a wealth of knowledge, experience and approachability. I highly recommend receiving your foot care training from Arlene!"
